The Procurement Technical Assistance Program (PTAP) was authorized by Congress in 1985 in an effort to expand the number of businesses capable of participating in the governmental marketplace.

The UTRGV PTAC is dedicated to providing you – at little or no cost with:

  • An understanding of the requirements for government contracting.
  • Opportunities to network with other business owners to form lasting and profitable partnerships.
  • The know-how to obtain and perform federal, state, and local government contracts.

In addition, the local PTAC holds numerous workshops and seminars on procurement-related topics.  If you are interested in selling to the government, Procurement Specialists at the UTRGV Rio South Texas Regional PTAC can get you started with free and confidential counseling!

These workshops are developed and presented to both existing and start-up businesses throughout the year for free!  Whether it’s basic instruction, or more in-depth trainings like OSHA Trainings, preparing bids to Sell to Cities, or getting questions regarding Bonding asked and answered, UTRGV PTAC can help!

UTRGV PTAC is funded in part through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Department of Defense through a program that is administered by the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA). The content of any written materials or verbal communications of the PTAC does not necessarily reflect the official views of or imply endorsement by DOD or DLA. Reasonable arrangements for persons with disabilities will be made, if requested at least two weeks in advance. Assistance for the hearing impaired can be attained by calling the TDD line at (956) 665-5071.

PTAC provides technical services through trainings and one-on-one counseling to persons interested in obtaining contracts with local, state, and federal governmental entities. PTAC helps businesses obtain state and federal certifications and understand the contracting process.
